Skoda Octavia Rear Window
We replaced this Skoda Octavia rear window in Callington after the customer rang Autoglass and was told Tuesday would be their earliest appointment.
Thursday afternoon the call came through from Glasscare / Autoglass asking if we cover the Callington area. After confirmation that the Quotemehappy normal policy limit for independent windscreen companies of a massive £50 would be waived we took the job on for Friday.
The customer had rung Autoglass numerous times and after waiting for several call backs was finally told a windscreen technician would be out on Tuesday! With a completely shattered back window this was unacceptable, the customer then rang his insurance company and via Glasscare / Autoglass we received the call.
Again it is interesting that when Autoglass fails with its Service Level Agreements for insurance companies the normal unfair practice (for independent windscreen companies) of restrictive policy limits and increased excesses are waived? It is hard to believe that the now closed Office of Fair Trading investigated this a couple of years ago yet no action was taken and nothing has changed.
As you can see from the pictures below a wait of 5 days for a replacement rear window is unacceptable, with no garage the vehicle is exposed to the rain and unsecure. We were able to source a glass overnight and by 13:45 the shattered rear window had been replaced, the broken glass cleaned up and the car was back on the road.
