This week we were called out to replace a windscreen on a VW LT35 van which had cracked for no apparent reason. The crack ran from the edge with no impact damage and then curved with some glass flaking which indicated stress damage from pressure. Once the trim was removed a spot of rust was revealed, this had expanded and applied pressure to the underside of the windscreen causing it to crack.
After some thorough rust treatment from the customer we were able to reprime the aperture and safely install a new windscreen.
