Windscreen Chip Repair Process
Today we repaired a couple of stone chips on a Ford Transit van for a local fleet company in Newton Abbot. The windscreen had two stone chips, one of them was a star break which can be quite tricky to repair and carries a greater risk of cracking under the windscreen repair process.
The windscreen chip repairs worked really well and we were able to take a few photos as the resin filled the star break. If you look at the pictures you will see the crack on the right (at 3 if you imagine a clock face) gradually disappearing as resin flows in. The other cracks seem visible as the windscreen cracks have to be viewed from the correct angle to see the resin replacing the air in the crack. Once the resin has filled the cracks and is then cured under a UV lamp they virtually disappear as the resin has the same refraction index as glass.
