Ford S-Max Windscreen
With a MOT due on Thursday 27th and the earliest Autoglass could replace the windscreen was Saturday 29th August we received a phone call from Glasscare / Autoglass to cover this Ford S-Max windscreen replacement in Salcombe. With a replacement windscreen sourced locally from Exeter and a quick check of the weather forecast we were able to safely book this windscreen in on Wednesday 26th, one day before the MOT was due!!
After checking the registration number there were three options for the windscreen! After a thorough check it was a solar reflective heated windscreen with a rain sensor.
As an independent windscreen company we would normally have a windscreen policy limit of £100 forced upon us making this sort of work untenable as the cost price of the windscreen is several hundred pounds. In this instance as Autoglass were unable to meet their Service Level Agreements with Axa Insurance we were advised the policy limit would meet removed!
The whole set up of crippling policy limits and inflated windscreen excesses for independent windscreen companies is basically an unfair trading practice which should be made illegal. Most windscreen claims lines are steered straight to about two or three national windscreen replacement companies who have no policy limitations forced upon them – how can this be a fair business practice?
It is interesting that over the last couple of months whilst Autoglass struggles to meet its SLA’s we now have insurance companies temporarily removing their policy limitations to ensure their customers windscreen are replaced in a timely fashion.
